Thank you so much for sharing all those resources. I'm very glad I subscribed. And I've been questioning the same thing with my writing, mulling over starting serialising/talking about researching some of my works on Substack
Hey Harvey, I'm right there with you. It's scary to put yourself out there, isn't it? I've been practicing - like how Eva points out, sometimes all I hear are crickets. But I like the idea of trying to build an audience before you even get close to publishing. Are you thinking of posting your work in progress?
Thanks Aaron, it is scary. I'm thinking of serialising a finished work (if a piece of writing is ever really done), a novella that catapulted me into writing three subsequent novels.
Harvey, do you follow Elle Griffin on Substack? She serialized her novel on here and also wrote newsletters about her experience of serializing her novel. She has a lot of interesting ideas.
Talking about my WIP is something I avoid as if my life depends on it! But I can see some value in posts that relate in a general way to something in your story (like the Beck lyrics). Maybe I can yet find a use for IG, too!
Eva, I sure agree with you! It's important to share your writing - your work in progress - in order to try and connect with potential readers. I'm working on doing that too....feels awfully quiet at the moment.
Thanks for this post! I appreciated your links and your encouragement to share - and see what works!

Thanks! Good luck if you decide to start writing on Substack. I really enjoy this platform.
Thanks!

Just checked her out and subscribed, thanks for the recommendation!

Absolutely...let 'er rip...your scribers can be a fabulous cadre of editors...been thinking about it myself.
"You have to let go of perfectionism" when in the midst of a mass extinction event...just sayin'
