I love your math poem turned music story! What a great tribute to your writing and thank you for reminding us that sometimes our work affects others in unexpected and charming ways.
Thanks for including my song! It's a bit silly and rough around the edges due to allergy season, but that's part of the magic. I hope everyone thanks authors they appreciate now, rather than waiting a decade like me.
Yes, everyone should thank authors as well as their former teachers -- being both a writer and a teacher myself, it's always so nice to know I had an impact on someone, no matter how small. Thanks for reaching out. It was such a delightful surprise!
What a great post! So full of useful information I had to read it twice. I'm absolutely going to use your technique for adding suspense by cutting scenes in my developmental edit this week. I had no idea there was a writing retreat near me in Maryland. And I already signed up for the interiority workshop next week. Thanks for the post!
Love this suggestion for a rewrite pass. Rather than simply looking for scenes to cut, asking the question - have I shown what I’ve already told, and then making smart choices about which part is best to keep, for the benefit of efficiency and dramatic suspense. Absolutely love this. Thank you - perfect timing for me! 🙏

Timely advice! I’m trying to figure out how to do this as I edit.
Good luck! And remember the screenwriting advice for scenes: "arrive late, leave early!"

Terrific info (Add Suspense by Cutting Scenes) that I'm saving to refer to as I edit my next novel!
Such sound advice and what a list of resources! Thank you
Thank you for the shout-out! I hope to go to Bouchercon one day! (it's on my list...)
